Our Technology

Bio-Based Resin

GAEA’s scientific team has expanded the use of various plant-based materials into resin or additives. Therefore, we have been able to convert numerous green-waste materials into resin. Such materials include the leaves of rice plants, hemp stocks, and corn.

Our bioplastic is a plant-based resin compound, categorized as thermoplastic starch (TPS). Starch macromolecules can be classified into two main groups, linear amylose and highly branched amylopectin. We have developed various modified TPS compounds by tailoring structural factors governing the variations in TPS functionalities.
TPS is both biodegradable and compostable.

Compostability

Compostable plastic made from our patented technologies have successfully degraded in industrial/home composter systems in Europe. PLA and PBAT plastics did not degrade in these vessels. Over the next few years, five-hour composting programs will be implemented in restaurants and other industrial facilities.

Advantages

We have the ability to customize petroleum-free, compostable resin for tailor-made performance. Many of our competitors’ products do not comply with internationally recognized standards on performance.

We are also developing new materials, such as compostable films with a high oxygen barrier performance, better transparency materials, and higher thermal resistance.
